Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive neurological disease that can be difficult to diagnose and is extremely debilitating. Freelance writer Hill was diagnosed with MS after consulting ten doctors and spending four years searching for answers. Appalled by books that offered little hope and spare information, she offers a more positive outlook and concrete advice for those newly diagnosed with MS. Hill documents her own story of declining physical condition and mounting frustrations in seeking answers to her health problems and explains how her life has changed because of the disease. Drawing from her own experiences, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), and scientific sources, she answers over 100 commonly asked questions about the disease. Diagnosis is highlighted, as are tips on how to locate a good neurologist and family/lifestyle issues. Drug therapies are charted by name, dosing method and frequency, side effects, and indications. A glossary and a list of MS clinical facilities affiliated with the NMSS are also included. An excellent addition to most consumer health collections.-Janet M. Schneider, James A.
