In the conclusion to Carlson's multigenerational family trilogy set in the Pacific Northwest (River's Song; River's Call), Anna Larson's 16-year-old granddaughter, having run away from home two years ago, is believed to be dead. But Anna and her daughter Lauren are in for a shock when Sarah, now 18 and a member of a religious cult, arrives on their doorstep. A fight ensues between mother and daughter, and, soon, Sarah is on the run again with the family trailing behind, hoping that they can save her. VERDICT Like the other series titles, this emotionally intense family drama by the RITA Award-winning Carlson will appeal to readers of Sara Shepard.
