Pets on the Loose! returns with The Great Art Caper by bestselling children's book author and illustrator Victoria Jamieson
Things at Daisy P. Flugelhorn Elementary School have been quiet—too quiet. Cuddly yet calculating class hamster GW spends his days in second grade and his nights poetry slamming and jigsaw puzzling with his friends, Sunflower and Barry. GW has even started warming up to the second-grade students. Could he be making human friends?
When the school art show is announced, GW learns of a dastardly plot—Harriet and her many minions are planning to ruin it! Once again, it's up to GW, Sunflower, and Barry to stop to Harriet's mousey madness.

Hamster GW, rabbit Barry, and guinea pig Sunflower (The Great Pet Escape) again face off with fiendish mouse Harriet, intent on framing GW for disrupting the elementary school's art show and getting him remanded to obedience school. The class pets employ teamwork (and art supplies) to outwit her. There's a lot happening in this zany graphic-novel chapter book; cleanly rendered panel illustrations help readers keep track.

In The Great Pet Escape (rev. 5/16), the clever classroom pets of Daisy P. Flugelhorn Elementary--hamster GW, rabbit Barry, and guinea pig Sunflower--foiled fiendish mouse Harriet's cruel "Lunchtime Surprise" scheme. Now Harriet is bent on revenge--and her sights are set on GW. Her mean-spirited plan involves framing GW for disrupting the school's art show and getting him remanded to St. Bart's Obedience School for Unruly Pets. The quick-thinking class pets employ teamwork, lots of art supplies, and hand-knit body doubles to outwit Harriet and keep GW out of trouble. For the most part, the human characters are unaware of the animals' high jinks in real time, although one second-grader's special connection with GW is introduced. There's a lot happening in this zany graphic-novel chapter book; the cleanly rendered panel illustrations help readers keep track of the mayhem leading up to a rip-roaring showdown between pets and pests. kitty flynn
