Digital photography has revolutionized the work of both professionals and amateurs. According to expert lensman Miotke ("Absolute Beginner's Guide to Taking Great Photos"), however, the techniques and principles of digital and film photography are largely the same; the truly radical differences involve the LCD screen, the amount of data stored with each image, and the histogram, or in-camera exposure graph. Miotke deals briefly with these differences, though most of the book is applied equally to digital and film photography. He expertly teaches the principles of composition, light, depth of field, exposure, and closeup and wildlife work, never assuming one is entirely conversant with the intricacies of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO numbers. This is one of the best books on nature photography and makes a fine general manual; highly recommended.
